Christine Laaban, owner and designer of the company, created BABYLONE in 1986. After working as a PR person for some of the trendiest Maisons de Couture back in the 70s (Cacharel, Pierre d’Alby, Pablo & Delia), Christine decided to launch her own costume jewelry brand.
The adventure started in February 1986 in Paris, precisely in Le Marais area. Very shortly after the creation of Babylone, Christine went back to the fashion world but this time as a designer, accessorizing catwalks and clothing lines. Thus started a long collaborative work with various prestigious Designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier – which proved up to this day to be a very fruitful partnership – Paco Rabanne, Karl Lagerfeld, Rochas and many others.
BABYLONE still manufactures its fashion jewellery lines within the confined walls of its Parisian studio; the perfect home for such a sparkling brand as it offers a vibrant energy always full of fresh and new ideas.
